Safeguard Engineering is passionate about developing the careers of future engineers and believe in the power of engineering to solve real-world challenges to shape a better future.
To emphasise the vital role of engineering in shaping our society, Darren Matthews – our Chief Business Development Officer – was delighted to be invited to deliver an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation to his local primary school.
The presentation was delivered to a Year 6 class and aimed to ignite their curiosity about the world of engineering. Darren discussed the types of challenges that engineering can address, from solving environmental issues to creating innovative technologies that improve daily life. He also highlighted the achievements of several famous engineers, showcasing their contributions to our modern world and demonstrating the real-world impact of their engineering careers.
Throughout the session, Darren encouraged the students to think about how engineering shapes the world around them, from the international space station to the Great Wall of China. his goal was to inspire the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators by showing them that engineering is not just about maths and science, but about creativity, curiosity and team work.
The response from the class was overwhelmingly positive, with lots of thoughtful and insightful questions. It was fantastic to be met with such enthusiasm and we hope the session sparked an interest in engineering for some future inventors and leaders in the room!
