FA ‘Grassroots Club of the Year’ runners up, Falmouth United Youth Football Club is Cornwall’s largest youth club with 300 players aged 5 to 18 years old. The club was founded in 1994 with a modest team of budding footballers but has flourished over the last 30 years and is now proudly home to 18 teams, from youth squads in the Cornwall Youth League, to their adult team in the Kernow Stone St Piran League. This year the club celebrate their 30th anniversary – a huge achievement, and testament to the dedication of those who have played a part in shaping the club in that time.
With strong ties to the area and an office local to the club, Safeguard Engineering is thrilled to sponsor the Under 9’s team who are currently excelling in the Cornwall Youth League. Since 2021, we’ve had the privilege of supporting their journey, witnessing their growth both as a team and individuals.
Chris Wood, Safeguard Helidecks Operations Manager, is the Club Chairman and Lead Coach for the Under 9’s team. Reflecting on the club’s remarkable 30-year journey, Chris said: “The club is thriving and growing every year – we’re almost running out of space! We are blessed to have the support of our volunteers throughout the club, who make such a difference to the younger generations. And as a non-profit organisation we rely heavily on sponsorship, and I cannot thank enough the local businesses that are willing to help and make a difference.“
