Safeguard Engineering expands with new office in Plymouth.

Safeguard Engineering is excited to announce the opening of its new office in Plymouth’s Derriford Business Park, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth.

With strong ties to Plymouth, a city renowned for its rich maritime history and connection to the Royal Navy, the new office is perfectly positioned to serve both new and existing clients in the area. To celebrate the launch we hosted an open afternoon, welcoming local clients and partners to tour the premises and learn more about our services. The event also provided a fantastic opportunity to introduce one of Safeguard’s latest team members, Ian Groom. Ian recently joined Safeguard Engineering as Principal Safety Engineer, following nearly 38 years of service in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer.

Throughout his extensive career, Ian worked across a range of platforms at sea, contributing to sea training, engineering policy, and capability development. Most notably, he represented the Ministry of Defence during the build and acceptance of HMS Prince of Wales as part of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance. Ian’s final military role was as the Defence Maritime Regulator, where he oversaw the safety and compliance of all defence maritime operations on behalf of the Secretary of State.
