Our Expertise

Safeguard Vertiports provide expert consultancy in the design, development and assurance of Vertiport landing areas.  It’s a specialist subsidiary of Safeguard Engineering, which also incorporates Safeguard Helidecks – a fully accredited Aviation Inspection Body (AIB).

Our expert team of aviation specialists are working with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to develop a new global standard for Vertiport Certification.  The team has over 60 years of combined aviation experience, gained from backgrounds in military and commercial aviation, so we’re familiar with the need to consider and assess several critical factors such as the deck loading, airflow disruption and the location of the take-off/landing area.  With this experience, we’re primed to provide expert advice and support on the design, development and use of vertiport platform areas.

The Future of Urban Air Mobility

Vertiports will underpin Urban Air Mobility (UAM), providing a safe and secure area for air taxi operators, cargo operators and the people using them. The ground infrastructure and the accompanying support services are crucial to the successful development of UAM.

Safeguard Vertiports worked alongside Urban-Air Port® to provide certification advice on the design of Air-One Display, the world’s first flying taxi and drone airport landing area. Air-One® was a world-first fully operational ‘pop up’ urban airport and charging hub for future eVTOL aircraft such as cargo drones and air taxis. This exciting new technology was launched in Coventry 2022 and is a partnership between Hyundai Air Mobility (a division of Hyundai Motor Group), Coventry City Council and the UK Government’s Future Flight Challenge.

As leaders in the domain, Safeguard Vertiports are working towards a global standard for Vertiport Certification, aligned with the Rules and Regulations laid down by the CAA and EASA. Engagement with us at the earliest opportunity will help to increase the likelihood of gaining certification and operational capability.
